Iford Manor Gardens: Mediterranean paradise near Bath

Located a 20 minute drive from Bath city centre, Iford Manor Gardens offers spectacular scenery well worth the visit.

Firstly, upon arrival driving across the bridge you are greeted with a stunning exterior to the property. With statues accessorising the bridge, and wisteria in full bloom, this is truly a hidden gem in Somerset and looks as if it is right out of a film set.

Bath and the surrounding area is filled with a plethora of beautiful sites to visit. However, Iford Manor Gardens may well be my favourite place to visit in the Bath area, emphasising just how special it is.

Once inside the garden, you are taken on a journey across history and at first glance appears as though you have stepped inside a Mediterranean villa. The architectural styles are wide ranging, with Roman and Italianate styles, as well as a Moorish style courtyard reminding me of the Alhambra palace in Granada, Spain.

The imagery does not quite capture the full beauty of Iford Manor Gardens. And if the gardens are not quite enough to peak your interest, which I doubt, there is a café and restaurant on site which even offers jazz events. The venue can also be used for professional photography of engagement and weddings.

There is a car park also on site, so if you are travelling via car it is very accessible. If you are without a car, taxis from Bath city centre are very reasonably priced as it is only a 20 minute drive. Furthermore, if you travel on a week day you can use the bus service.

If you wish to spend more time in this magnificent location, you can stay at Rowley Cottage.

Ticket for garden entry are currently priced at £8 for adults, £7 for students/children (over 10's only)/senior citizens.
